About Us
History
Northside Chistian School was formed by a group of parents who realized God holds them responsible for training up their children in the right way, and for overseeing the influences on them. God led them with the aid of their local churches to set up a Christian school dedicated to educating the children according to the ways and truths of the Bible.
Norhside Christian School opened in September 1974 as Compassion Christian School with thirty students, grades one through eight. In August of 1978 the school was reorganized and the name was changed. Instead of being a direct ministry of the church, it became a Minnesota non-profi corporation having three churches as members: Compassion Christian Center, Way of the Cross Church, and Daystar Ministries. Daystar later dissolved it's ministry, leaving Church Upon the Rock (formerly Compassion Christian Center) and Way of the Cross Church as the sponsoring churches.
In the fall of 1986 there was no room for further growth at the Church Upon the Rock campus. During this time, the vision came for the opening of new campuses in other churches. This desire led to the opeinig of the second Nothside campus at Way of the Cross Church in September of 1987. Northside was later consolidated at the Way of the Cross (now Way of the Lord) site in 1999.
Northside continues to look toGod to fulfill its' on going mission and destiny.
Mission Statement
The specific mission of NCS is to provide a sound academic education integrated with the Christian view of God and the world based on the Word of God. This educational program is primarily designed for children whose parents have a personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and are committed to training their children in obedience to His Word. The Bible is specific in stating the principles of Christian education. The apostle Paul presented a comprehensive principle when he wrote of Christ, "For by Him were all things created:....He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together." (Colossians 1:16-17). The Gospel of John states, "Through Him all things were made: withou Him was nothing made that has been made." (Genesis 1:1, John 1:3).
Functioning primarily as an extension of the Christian home and church, NCS supports parents who seek to obey the Biblical injunctions that gives them ultimate responsibility for the education of their children (Deuteronomy 6:7-8). Because the Christian approach to learning differs significantly from the secular, NCS offers a curriculum, taught by a qualified Christian faculty, that allows parents to provide their children with academic instruction consistent with the Christ-centered teaching received at home and at church.
Core Values
Who we are is informed by our five CORE VALUES.

The Importance of Christian School Education
"Basic lliteracy and the spread of the Gospel of Christ go hand in hand, but we are keeping pace. The declineof literacy in the United States represents a serious threat to the Biblical Christian community.
Christian school education has a feature that is simply not available in any other form of education anywhere in the world. A Chrstian school is the only academic institution where the evangelical witness to students is central to its mission. That fundamental mission is encouraged by the board, the administration and the teachers. It is encouraged by parents and most often by the students themselves. I like the work of Martin Luther who said, "I would advise no one to send his child where the Holy Scriptures are not supreme. Every institution that does not unceasingly pursue the study of God's Word becomes corrupt."
